Designed by Steen Østergaard in 1966, the Modo 290 Chair by Nielaus is a true design icon. The 290 chairs have been exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art in New York as a tribute to modern design.
Each chair is molded in one piece and is inherently strong. The futuristic and clean design was portrayed in science fiction movies in the 60s and 70s and will still look great in your decor in the present. The Modo 290 chair is available in 5 standard colors, which can be combined with an upholstered cushion.

Steen Østergaard

Steen Østergaard, born in Denmark in 1935, is a renowned furniture designer known for his innovative and ergonomic designs. After training as a cabinetmaker and imagery carver, he studied furniture architecture at Copenhagen's School of Arts & Crafts, where he graduated with honors. Østergaard gained international recognition early in his career, winning the 1st prize in a major competition before finishing his education. He is celebrated for designing the first plastic chair molded in one piece in 1966, and his iconic furniture, like the A-series 290 & 265, remains highly sought after. Today, he continues to design from his home in the south of France.
