The tulip's natural and beautiful arches have inspired THE BOUQUET collection, designed by Sinja Svarrer Damkjær in 2019. The design language of the lampshades is inspired by the head of the tulip flower when the tulip is in its newly sprouted shape. In contrast to the carefree expression of the tulip, the lampshades unfold with precise folds. In contrast to the sharp pleats, the wires are braided together to emphasize the organic and soft expression.
Beautifully braided by hand at Le Klint in Odense, Denmark, the lamp's wires are upholstered in natural, rustic linen. The braids allow you to arrange the screens as desired to give exactly the bouquet you want in your home. Another small detail on the lamp is the holder of the screen, which is made of oak.
LE KLINT is synonymous with lampshades. Iconic, hand-folded shades take years of learning techniques and mastering many different pleating forms. Only then can a student test into certification to become part of the skilled team of Pleating Technicians. However, this is only a fraction of the procedure of each lamp. Specialist metal workers, woodworkers, and engineers play a big part in the magic of creating unique illuminated art. These tenets have gone hand-in-hand with the folding process since their genesis.
A dedicated LE KLINT team takes great pride in every aspect of the production, fitting, quality control, and shipment procedures to ensure each lamp is unique. In-house production facilities in Odense collaborate with skilled suppliers such as wood carvers, metal casters, and glass blowers, based in Denmark or internationally, with the main focus on quality as “the” guideline.
To remove the shades - follow instructions in the manual as you would fit or replace a lightbulb.
Sinja Svarrer Damjær
Sinja Svarrer Damkjær graduated from Aalborg University as a civil engineer specializing in industrial design in 2007.
With the lamp series The Bouquet, Sinja Svarrer Damkjær has been inspired by a spring messenger, namely the tulip. She has combined the expression from the elongated large bundles of tulips, which fall in their natural, soft arches, with LE KLINT's unique folding craft.
As a graduation project, she created with inspiration from nature and the flowers of spring the first edition of The Bouquet, which uses the classic cross-pleating in a new interpretation. The Bouquet was the first product in the history of LE KLINT to use the energy-saving lighting technology of the future, LED. It thus combined LE KLINT's classic cross-pleating with modern lighting technology.
LE KLINT
LE KLINT is a lighting company established in 1943, but the story of the company dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when a hand pleated lamp shade was folded to fit a paraffin lamp both designed by architect and master of engineering P.V. Jensen-Klint. We have ever since maintained our original concept but we are constantly seeking to develop within modern times.
